Cirque du Soleil has always been something I’ve meant to see, but somehow never have. Today I am in Montreal for the first time so the hubby and I were just walking around and exploring. When we got to the harbor we saw the Cirque du Soleil tent. He said let’s check it out and see if there are any tickets. It turns out that a show was starting in just one hour so we bought tickets and walked straight in.

The show was Luzia and was based around Mexican culture and ecology. I had heard plenty of hype about Cirque du Soleil so I was expecting to be disappointed. I was NOT. The performers all  began their routines doing something interesting well, but then progressed through doing something very hard very well. By the end of a routine the performer was doing something I would have bet good money could not be done AT ALL.

The costumes were stunning. The stagecraft was exceptional. The music was fantastic. There were acrobats, contortionists, strong men, and a charming clown. They made it rain on stage, then made the rain fall in patterns so you could see pictures flowing down in the rain. It was STUNNING. Don’t be a fool like me and let the opportunity to see one of these gorgeous shows go by for decades. See the next one you can!
