OK, I know I’m late to the game on She-Hulk: Attorney at Law but lately I’ve become obsessed. I’ve been watching one or two episodes every day. It was only this last episode that I was able to understand why this silly little series has hit me so hard. It turns out it combines my lifelong love of superheroes with a TV show that I adored from the 90s – Ally McBeal.

Once you cotton on to it, the similarities are glaring. Lonely single woman seeks love while battling court cases every day. Her best (and apparently only) friend is also part of the legal profession. Surreal imagery popping up every episode. Good use of music. Questionable dating decisions. It’s like an MCU Ally McBeal reboot. Or an episode of What If…? titled “What if Ally McBeal Could Pound Billy into the Ground for Dumping Her but for Some Reason Doesn’t?”

Even if you have never seen Ally McBeal, I strongly urge you to give She-Hulk a try.
