Yesterday morning I took out my iPhone 7 – not a typo – and tried to do online bill pay. My bank’s app said it needed to be updated, but when I tried it the update wouldn’t go because my iOS was out of date. So I updated my iOS and it was still too old. I went to the Apple store knowing my poor phone’s days were numbered.

I walked out with a 16e. It is only slightly larger than the 7, but the screen is the same size as the device so it’s much larger than my old phone’s screen which was sort of letterboxed on the device. I opened up my bank app and POW it came up much faster, and of course much easier to read. Wordle is HUGE now! And I have 26 hour battery life even if I’m streaming video – which I don’t do much but sometimes my Blue Tooth would empty the battery quickly if I was listening to an audiobook on a JBL speaker.

Don’t get me wrong, I miss having a phone that fits a little easier in my pocket. I also miss the start button but they swear that will go away. On the other hand the upgrade in technology is very marked so I’m happy with the switch – at least until the credit card bill arrives.
