Despite the macabre name The Good Ship Murder is a cozy mystery series about murders and other mayhem associated with a luxury cruise ship that sails around the Mediterranean. The “detectives” are the first mate and the lounge singer – although the lounge singer used to be a cop so they have a leg up. The first mate is also the lounge singer’s love interest – go figure. She is meticulously logical and speaks the native languages in all the ports of call. Their chemistry is a lot like the detectives in The Mallorca Files which I also enjoyed.

The lounge singer played by Shayn Ward does his own singing. He won The X-Factor singing competition then made a success for himself as both a recording artist and an actor. He sings a variety of songs from golden oldies all the way up to Depeche Mode.

How do I see this show? I stream it from BritBox which I find to be very good value for the money. There is one season in the can and another coming out soon. Give it a try!
