This past week the temperature ventured over into positive territory and the snow melted on the sidewalks. There were huge piles of snow everywhere but for a few precious days I could walk around time in my waterproof sneakers instead of my heavy snow boots. My ankles were free to move and my knees appreciated the lighter shoes. It was also lovely to walk without fear of slipping on ice. I was even able to forgo my full length down parka rated to -30 degrees and wear my normal winter coat. And no scarf needed!  It was a glorious romp of freedom.

Of course it snowed hard and heavy last night so we’re not done with winter yet, but the respite renewed my faith that spring will come – even to Ottawa.
